Starting with white cotton fabric soaked in soda ash.
Supplies shown: buckets, ice chest, fabric and dish drying rack.

Adding dye powder to the batch.
Additional dyes added to same batch.
Ice dyed in all its glory.
Fabric dyed from past ice dyes and low immersion dyes.

The big dilemma with this presentation: How are you going to get the ice to melt in an hour on a beautiful spring day in March? I used a heat gun to melt the ice to show off the fabric in the end. It didn’t change the results.
